About Us

Operating well-equipped farms (‘digi-farms’) and innovative commercial farms are needed for the future animal farming. ERGEN is a pioneer R&D company in assisting small ruminant farmers to enhance livestock breeding procedures by integrating aspects of sciences and technologies. Our team is presenting viable solutions to enhance farmers operating results and the living circumstances of small ruminants because of farm management and automation.

ERGEN cooperates intensively with leading research institutes and universities. We aim to deliver innovative technologies that enables farmers to produce more efficiently, uniformly, safely and profitably in a way that respects animals and the environment.

We provide clients technological tools to enhance the efficiency and profitability of livestock reproduction, production, and product quality by collation of Biotechnology and Information technologies.

Our History

ERGEN was founded by Dr. Ebru Emsen and Dr. Bahadır Odevci October of 2008 with the primary focus of assisted reproductive technology and information technology industry focused on small ruminants. Dr. Ebru Emsen is a professor with 26 years experience specialising in assisted reproductive technologies in small ruminants. She has developed new protocols for successful AI, MOET and semen and embryo preservation. Her R&D projects focused on creating synthetic dam line and selecting the proper terminal sires for commercial lamb production. Anarom synthetic dam line has been developed in 2009 in her leadership. Through participation in national, regional and global networks Ebru an interest in how to improve dissemination of research to key stakeholders. She is not only the domain expert of defining problems in the area of animal welfare, controlling reproduction, setting objectives and priorities for efficient lamb production, and identifying solutions to key problems but also she had her own sheep farm operation in large scale and actively a sheep breeder for last 13 years. She leaded 5 innovations developed in iSAGE (www.isage.eu) project funded by Horizon 2020.

Bahadır Baran Odevci completed his PhD degree at Information Technologies, specialized in Proposing a Model for Precision Management Supervised with Machine Learning in Livestock Management. He graduated from Amsterdam University Business School, MBA, Thesis on Credit Risk Scorecard Development, Amsterdam in 2007. Bahadir completed Amsterdam Leadership Programme, (leadership, group dynamics, negotiation, change management,). He has graduate degree from Bogazici University, Computer Engineering, Istanbul, 2000. His Thesis nominated for best graduation thesis award by IBM. Bahadir is Executive Director of Imona Technologies, since 2010. He has been leading the working group on precision sheep breeding of the KuzuFAB, Internet of Things Innovation (IOTI), a bussiness model with more than 10 K followers aimed at creating an innovative lamb production model using IoT technologies.

He has been specialized in employing the Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in small ruminant production alongside other advanced computing technologies. He developed KuzuFab Mobile Flock Manager (KuzuFab) system and tested in the case study farm within EU Project (iSAGE).

The system detects alerts occurring in the farm and suggest for troubleshooting. KuzuFab was combined with Cloud Services compounded with Predictive Analytics Services for helping fine-tune flock management and improve operational excellence. KuzuFab is aimed at sheep farmers who need an easy to use “point and click” solution to keep legislative records, to attain operational guidance and build flock performance data. He contributed several projects the heavy lifting for cognitive solutions to quantify health, wellness and productivity in dairy and meat sheep operations for ensuring traceability of animal products. He has been actively contributed between 2016-2020 to the iSAGE (Innovations for Sheep and Goat Production in Europe, Horizon 2020) Project.
